It’s Ok – even when it’s not.

Holy time warp Batman, where did this week go? I had every intention on sharing some fun stories and helpful mommy knowledge this week but a few life-altering setbacks have well… set me back! I figured what better way to tell you about it than with the help of Neely and Amber’s Its Ok link up!?

ItsOkThursdaysButton1

It’s Ok…

… that if I didn’t know it before, I definitely know I never want to be a single mom.

… that my single mommy status had to be extended because Z was called for an extra day of shooting. For those of you who don’t remember, Z booked a role on the NBC show Revolution!

… that single mom life ends today because hubby is finally coming home!

… that after one of the most beautiful mornings we’ve had in a while, which I filled with a mommy-daughter walk around the neighborhood, I got food poisoning and spent most of the Oscars with my head in the toilet. Not to mention the rest of the night and next morning. Holy hell.

… that I think my daughter may eventually have a calling in the medical field because at only 14 months old she was patting me on the back and resting her head on me while I was hurling my brains out.

… that I bought what I thought was a great bedding set from a sale at Anna’s only to come home and find that the comforter doesn’t even cover the mattress on our guest bed. Later I learned that basically the whole world knew you buy a size up for comforters… and didn’t feel the need to tell me.

… that I made some delicious sausage, ricotta, and spinach ravioli FROM SCRATCH but after learning that it may have been the sausage that cause me to empty my stomach on Oscar night, I had to throw it all out. Thank goodness I didn’t give it to Keelin.

… that after welcoming Z home with a few nights of snuggling close by the fire I have every intention of leaving him on baby duty while I go out to see a movie solo. Mama needs a night out by herself.

… that I might tackle the next girl scout I see because I’m desperate to get my hands on at least one box of samoas and thin mints.

… that I’m feeling pretty blog-famous because the awesome Petersik family of Young House Love featured {and linked to} one of my headbands from theKeenBean in their daughter’s latest monthly fabric photo. If you recall from my book signing adventure, I gave them a custom-made headband.

… that I’ve never been more excited to get books in the mail than when I saw 4 out of the 5 Bradley Method Birthing Coach required reading books had arrived. WOOT.

… that I’m feeling really inspired to put a fire under a few projects now that I’m feeling like a human again!

Link UP Week: Its Ok Thursday

link up week

Is it me or is this week seem like it’s twice as long as a normal week?
Oh well… hopefully I haven’t bombarded you with TOO many link ups, but if I have I hope you’ve found some great new blogs to follow! I know I have. Today’s link up is an oldie but a goodie, straight from the lovely ladies at A Complete Waste of Make UP and Brunch With Amber. It’s Its Ok Thursday!

It’s OK…

… that I have no desire to ever be a single mom. That’s probably obvious but flying SOLO this week made me realize how much I take advantage of just having my hubby around after work. K and I are doing great, but “dada” is definitely missed this week.

… that Keelin and I ate out for breakfast and dinner yesterday. After all, it is girls week out {in}.

… to spend 1/2 the day poking the fire because I’m unsatisfied with its lack of ROARING FLAMES!

… to snuggle with your 1-year-old while watching Enchanted

… that I’m obsessed with Keelin’s new quirks including how she does a little backwards scoot to sit down in my lap, and how she puts her head on the ground and butt up in the air to look through her legs and laugh.

… that I plan on getting extra cash this week so I can stock up on girl scout cookies on Sunday. Yes, my church is awesome and lets them sell at the door.

… that Live! with Kelly and Michael is actually LESS interesting when they are hosting from Disney World. What’s up with that? Maybe I’m just jealous that they are there and I’m not.

…  that I’m really excited that theKeenBean is participating in its first Facebook auction thanks to Mish Mosh Posh. I have six items listed so be sure to check it out – Auction starts Sunday at 10:00 am.

… to be behind on my TO DO list. Are we ever REALLY on top of our TO DO lists?

… that I’m super stoked to see Robin Roberts back on Good Morning America.

… that I’m in love with the notification my phone gives me when I get a new blog comment. It’s like a little fairy.

Its O-HO-HO-HO-K

It’s less than a week until Christmas ya’ll… so I figured this ITS OK Thursday should be Christmas-themed! It only makes sense.

ItsOkThursdaysButton1Its o-HO-HO-HO-k…

… that I’ve only baked ONE batch of cookies. Gingerbread {Trader Joe’s ya’ll.. YUM} that are too scrumdidliumptious!

… that I came home  from JoAnn Fabrics with three full bags of Christmas goodies when I went in intending just to buy a gingerbread man cookie cutter. In my defense, the will power of a Christmas-loving craft-a-holic is no match for a 70% off Christmas sale. SQUEEE!

… that I’m actually letting myself look forward to when Christmas is over because of all the exciting things the New Year has in store. Don’t get me wrong… this is my FAVORITE time of year, but I can’t contain my excitement!

… that I hope the winners of the recent giveaways now have some fantastic swag to give as gifts… even if it’s a gift for themselves!

… that really the only thing on my Christmas list is for Keelin to look at me and say “mama”. I feel like she’s forgotten the word ever since everything became “dada” or “daggie” {doggie}

… that although I’m so thankful we get to spend Christmas with Z’s parents, and kind of have a 2nd Christmas when my parents come to visit the day after, I’m still reminiscing about last Christmas when my entire family was in my house. Despite being the size of a house and having to deal with a pinched nerve in my back… it was kind of the perfect Christmas.

… that I’m really crossing my fingers that Keelin has the same reaction to her presents and tearing into the wrapping paper that she does when I play it out in my head.

… to really really really wish I had like a week-long “Christmas vacation” where I didn’t have to worry about getting my work done and could just focus on the magic of the holiday.

… to get really PO’d when people feel the need to censor themselves by saying “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Hanukkah”, etc. Like saying either of the latter is “bad”. Seriously, if you celebrate Christmas, wish me a Merry Christmas. If you celebrate Hanukkah, wish me a Happy Hanukkah! Whatever it is that you celebrate, please, wish it to me. My “thank you, and a Merry Christmas to you!” will be dripping with sincerity because I LOVE the holiday that I celebrate and shouldn’t feel like I have to censor myself when I want to share that love. Seriously… people wonder why the world is so torn apart, what do you expect when you are taught that you have to be politically correct in everything you do. I will not be offended if you wish me a Happy Kwanzaa, Boxing Day, Diwali, Bodhi Day, Hanukkah, WHATEVER… If it’s what you celebrate, you should be able to spread the love and tradition you feel to everyone.  {I had every intention of writing a full post about this topic… because clearly it gets me riled up… but being that the spirit of the season is happiness and love and so on and so forth, I figured this would be enough to get my point across without seeming like a total Grinch. The end.}

… that I SLIGHTLY splurged on an adorable Christmas dress and cardigan for Keelin. It was also 30% off… another point for this budget-conscious mama!

… to be pumped about making a custom hairpiece to match said adorable Christmas dress and cardigan.

… that I had to cut back our Christmas card list because getting photo cards printed and mailed out is so errrfing expensive.

… that I’m writing this while sitting by a roaring fired, fighting the fart machines for the best spot on the floor. :)

Its WAY Ok

Time for one of my favorite link-ups with Amber and Neely, the lovely ladies at Brunch with Amber and A Complete Waste of Make up!

ItsOkThursdaysButton1Its ok…

… that I can’t remember the last time I listened to my alarm clock when it beckoned I wake up early! Yes, it still goes off, but I blissfully turn it off and continue with my slumber.

… that Keelin looks like a character out of Flashdance today since I dressed her in RED leg gins and an oversized black tshirt. SHE’S A MANIAC!

… that the amount of Christmas decorations in my house doesn’t come close to what I wish I had. If only there were room to store it when it’s NOT in use… next house we’re pumping things up!

… to stop everything I’m doing and just listen whenever I hear Ave Maria.

… to shamelessly plug my current giveaway with The Meraki Menagerie. Enter before Sunday for the chance to win a BEAUTIFUL handmade guitar string bracelet

… to make sure all of Keelin’s mess toys are stored away in their designated baskets before I go to bed because waking up to a clean living room makes the start of the day that much better. And Keelin has a blast pulling it all OUT of the baskets again.

… to feel guilty asking for ANYTHING for Christmas.

… that I was WAY TOO EXCITED about fixing Keelin’s hair in her FIRST ponytail ever a few nights ago. It’s ADORABLE. Perhaps it will publicly debut in next week’s onesie pic.

… that my heart swells whenever I see Z and Keelin playing. Such a sweet hubby and a beautiful relationship.

… to be incredibly ashamed at my lack of Starbucks intake this holiday season.

… that I secretly {or not to secretly} want an adult onesie

… that my summer-loving self is actually ready for cold weather. Just to make it feel more like Christmas… and then it can get warm again after New Years… if the world doesn’t end before then.

Its Ok Thursday… from the sicky

Its Ok Thursdays
Its ok…

…that I spent all day yesterday laying on the couch with little actual contact with my daughter thanks to an on and off flu-like plague. Ok maybe just the first part is ok, the fact that I couldn’t play with Keelin was heartbreaking.

…that my house is a total disaster mostly because of tissue boxes, cups of juice, and nasal spray.

…that I used an entire bottle of hand sanitizer in a 24 hour period.

…that along with echinacea wellness tea, a gallon of orange juice, and crackers I also bought a box of banana popsicles.

…that this entire post revolves around being sick and whiney – I’m so lame.

Until next time…
